Why You Have to Be Like Madonna

30 Jun

She has managed to keep herself in the spotlight for nearly three decades in a notoriously fickle industry.

Madonna - showing us how to win on the web since the 80s!

She has managed to consistently keep herself front of mind through constant re-invention and re-branding.

She has continued to sell herself to us for decades and succeeded.

In order to sell successfully on the web you have to constantly move with the times and embrace the latest changes. If your strategy is limited to having a simple website that is rarely, if ever updated and more like an online brochure then you are as relevant as the perm Madonna wore in the 80s.

Move with the times and just like Madonna, you too can continue to survive and prosper in a notoriously fickle and ever changing world.

Why You Should Stop Using Powerpoint

How many boring meetings have you sat through while the presenter flips through slide after slide

Powerpoint

Powerpoint

It’s been the default presentation standard for well over a decade now.
There are alternatives

Everyone is using the

same format
same templates
same layout

and playing it safe by looking just like everyone else.

That’s millions of presentations that are unengaging and boring audiences. Think of the millions of hours lost each year as people just sit there, watching the equivalent of TV’s test pattern.

There are alternatives, you don’t have to use Powerpoint. Technology has come a long way since the first version of Powerpoint monopolised the corporate presentation market all those years ago.

Wanna get noticed? Don’t do what everyone else is doing, don’t use Powerpoint. Try something else and you will immediately have the audience’s attention. Yes, it means having to learn other tools but it’s a small price to pay and definitely worth it when you consider the added impact being different gives to your presentation.

If you’re interested in an alternative to Powerpoint then I suggest you subscribe to my email newsletter on the right and I will show you a superior alternative that I use that to wow the crowds.

How to Get People Talking About You

28 Jun

Most of us are used to organisations over promising and under delivering. Years of perpetual disappointment have led us to feel that lengthy delays, lousy service and products that don’t live up to our expectations is the norm.

This presents a unique opportunity. We are so accustomed to being let down that when someone does take the trouble to under promise and over deliver we are astonished. Such pleasant surprises are newsworthy and thanks to tools like social media, good news spreads fast, real fast.

Take for example my internet service provider – iinet. They recently upped my monthly bandwidth quota for free and I didn’t have to prompt them to do so. I just received an email informing me that I could now download a whole lot more for exactly the same monthly fee. Now this is what I call a pleasant surprise and if their ploy was to get people talking it worked because the first thing I did after receiving the email was tell the world.

The moral of this story is that if you want to get people talking, do something newsworthy by pleasantly surprising them just as iinet have done here.

under promise and over deliver FTW

Wanna Make An Ad? Just Do It!

Nowadays, you don’t just watch the advertising, you make it. The lines between the audience and the advertiser/brand are becoming ever more blurred.
