How Not to Write a Resume

You’re probably aware that Facebook wishes to change the way profiles are laid out to a new format called “Timelines”
You can pre-empt the switch and make the move now or wait until the change is forced upon you.
I’ve made the jump and have to say that I really, really like the new and improved layout. I liked it so much that I felt compelled to ‘fill in the gaps’ for the years and months when not a lot happened update wise just so they’d appear in my timeline and give a complete picture of everything i’ve done and all the experiences i’ve had in the past few years.
And then it dawned on me.
Whilst the new layout has been introduced to keep FB fresh and interesting and the format is superior to the old one, one of the most likely key drivers for the switch is that it compels you to offer up yet more personal information to Facebook.
More personal information = more precise targeting of ads. More precise targeting = more ad dollars for Facebook.
It’s not all about the bucks, just mostly about them.

How many houses of the hundreds that I drove past that day do you think I will recall in such vivid detail?
Cowardly, safe creative that lacks cut-through is wallpaper and not memorable. Brave work that demands attention will always win the day.
