How To Make Google Happy

3 Aug

Everytime I update this site with a new blog post a new webpage is created. Because the page is new and fresh, Google will have a look at it and index it (usually within about two hours).

Well fed Google = happy Google

Why Static Websites Suck

If your web presence is limited to a static website that consists of a grand total of five basic pages that hasn’t been updated for years then you are not going to be as juicy and large a target for Google. Your website will be deemed to be less relevant than one that is frequently updated with fresh content.

Less relevant websites will still appear in search results…..they’ll just appear on page 232 instead of page 1!

How to Increase Your Attractiveness to Google

When I started this website eight months ago it consisted of less than twenty pages in total. Thanks to my persistent blogging which creates a fresh new page everytime I create a post that total is now well over two hundred pages making for a bigger, fatter, juicier target for Google to index and visitors to enjoy and share.

Did you Create Google Friendly Content Today?

How much content are you creating for your audience on a daily/weekly /monthly basis? If you’d like a website like this one that can be updated regularly then please contact me as I offer the very same tools that I used to crack the top ten percent of most visited sites in the world in just seven short months to my customers.

Business is Booming

25 May

And traffic is growing…over 4000 visitors this month alone!

I prefer to show rather than tell.

malgordon.com website visitors traffic

Online marketing is about converting traffic/visitors/followers/likers/friends into sales/believers. In order to get the conversions you need to build the traffic first just as I am doing here month by month, post by post.

Don’t fall into the trap of choosing a website because it looks pretty. Choose one that is designed to drive traffic and sell, the form should follow the function and not vice versa.

How to Get People to Revisit Your Site Regularly

21 May

Speedhunters is a website that I visit every single day.
Speedhunters.com

I visit Speedhunters because:

1. It covers a subject that interests me

I like cars, Speedhunters has lots of flashy pictures of interesting and exciting cars.

Be specific when it comes to the web. There are a zillion general news sites out there. The web allows you to connect and do business with like minded individuals who share your very specific interests and expertise. Don’t confuse your audience by trying to be everything to everybody, pick your niche instead and stick to it.

The message I send through this site is “I am an online marketing expert.” If I were to start creating content about cars or aeroplanes or the financial markets or anything other than topics related to online marketing then I would be confusing my audience and probably end up losing them in the process.

2. It always has fresh content

Speedhunters is updated EVERY SINGLE DAY. I am guaranteed that I will be greeted with fresh new content every time I visit. I don’t re-read the old posts and look at the old pictures, it’s the new stuff i’m interested in.

You wouldn’t watch last Thursday’s nightly TV news or read last Monday’s paper, would you? If updating your web site is a hassle then get one that isn’t or update your Twitter or Facebook page in the least.

3. It looks nice

The photos and stories are always produced to a very high, professional standard.

How seriously would you take someone who had a website that looks like this?

4. It’s easy to use

Speedhunters is easy to navigate and loads fast. It doesn’t take very long to get into the content, you just load up the page and can absorb it intuitively.

Conclusion

So there you have it, if you build a website that lacks any of the above and are expecting alot of people to take an interest in it and then revisit it regularly then you are going to be disappointed.

Build a site that adheres to the above and you’ve got yourself a winner that’ll have them coming back for more.

Meet the World’s First Blogger!

29 Apr

After many months of painstaking research across the globe (and a whole lot of bribery), I am proud to announce that I have finally discovered the world’s very first blogger.

Doogie shows us how it's done

Whilst blogging is so hip right now with everyone and their dog is keeping one, it was a very different picture in the late 80s and early 90s. Only high IQ, medical whizzes who graduated college at 12 were doing it and leading the way for us non blog keeping plebs in the process. So, without further adieu I hereby proclaim that the world’s first blogger is none other than Dr. Douglas (Doogie) Howser, M.D.

And here’s the evidence to prove it!

Why Nothing Means Everything

9 Apr

Imagine if you switched on the TV news and got last week’s edition. Have you ever picked up a newspaper that’s one month old and read it as intently as today’s edition? The web is very much the same, not updating your site, ignoring your Facebook friend who asked a question on your wall or your Twitter buddy who would sincerely like to know how you are is a bit of a no-no nowadays.

That’s why, dear reader, I have taken it upon myself to write this post to you. What I have to say today is that I have nothing to say. That is, I am tired, a bit run down and unable to concoct any deep and meaningful insights because i’m just not up to it right now.

And herein lies the message, instead of leaving this blog without its regular update, I took it upon myself to bash this out instead. Keep the conversation going, even if you have nothing to say let your audience know because the worst thing you can do is ignore them. Yes, I am thinking of you and hopefully dear reader, this post has you thinking of me.
